Salford Red Devils travel to face Wakefield Trinity at the Be Well Support Stadium later tonight.

Paul Rowley’s side are looking to bounce back from two consecutive defeats, but spirits are high and optimism is in the air for what this squad can achieve in 2023.

Trinity have struggled to gain any momentum this season and sit rock-bottom of the Betfred Super League table.

However, by beating Leeds Rhinos just over a fortnight ago, Mark Applegarth’s team have shown they are no pushovers and will be a tricky test for any team visiting West Yorkshire.

Here’s everything you need to know before this one:

A wave of injury trouble has hit Paul Rowley’s squad at a crucial point in the campaign.

After failing a HIA in last weekend’s defeat, Ryan Brierley is missing for this one, with Andy Ackers still not passed fit to feature after consecutive head knocks.

Brodie Croft is nursing a hand injury and is still not available, while Sam Stone is the latest casualty in the now-20-man squad.

However, there is positive news that Alex Gerrard is back available for selection after struggling with a knee problem.

Ahead of Round 17, Assistant Coach, Krisnan Inu spoke to the media and brought us up to speed on the health of full-back, Ryan Brierley.

On his medical condition, Inu said: “He’s alright. He doesn’t mind having a rest. He’s probably been our best player this year.

“His head is alright, medically he’s ticked all the boxes that could have let him play, but the rules are the rules, so he misses out this week.

“It’s a refresh button for him at a good time of the year. He can get his body sorted for the rest of the season to come.”
